User Copyright Retention

You retain full copyright and ownership of:

  • All bibliographies you generate
  • Any content you input into the tool

Since all data is stored locally in your browser, we never have access to your work.

Acceptable Use

Service Availability

AI-Generated Content

When using the Smart Source Summarizer:

  • Summaries are AI-generated and may contain errors
  • Always verify summarized content against the original source
  • Do not rely solely on AI summaries for academic work
  • You are responsible for ensuring accuracy of any AI-generated content you use

Third-Party Services

CiteWise integrates with third-party services (CrossRef, Open Library, OpenAI) for enhanced features. We are not responsible for:

  • Availability of third-party APIs
  • Accuracy of data from third-party sources
  • Privacy practices of third-party services

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

CiteWise and its creators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to academic penalties, grade reductions, or any other harm.
